Report Reveals What The Nets Are Seeking From Golden State In Michael Porter Jr. Talks
Jan 15, 2026
The Brooklyn Nets are a team deep in a rebuild, and as a result, they were expected to be major sellers ahead of the trade deadline heading into the 2025–26 season. One player they were hoping would be a huge trade piece for them is Michael Porter Jr., the former NBA champion, whom they acquired in the offseason for Cam Johnson.
Thus far, MPJ has lived up to the hype, posting career highs across the board with 26 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per game across 31 appearances. That has led to significant interest around the league, with some reports suggesting that the Golden State Warriors are a team to look out for in the MPJ sweepstakes.
Now, if the Warriors truly do want to land him, a report from Evan Sidery has revealed what Brooklyn would want in exchange for MPJ in any deal.
According to Sidery, the team would be eyeing the Warriors' first-round picks in 2026 and 2028, and given that steep asking price, there's a significant chance that Golden State looks elsewhere for an upgrade at the three.

On paper, MPJ is the perfect fit for the Warriors, as he gives them length, a great shot from beyond the arc, and championship experience, and with the team going for it all with this veteran group, he'd be a great fit. However, two first-round picks is a steep ask for the Warriors given how old their core currently is, and as a result of this report, there's a chance we may not see a deal get done between these two teams.
