Karl-Anthony Towns Makes His Allegiance Known for the New All-Star Format

Karl-Anthony Towns has become one of the best centers in the NBA over the last decade, and last season, he was officially dealt to the New York Knicks in a blockbuster deal. Since arriving, Towns was an All-Star a year ago, and given that he's averaging 22 points, 12 rebounds, and three assists per game in 2025–26, he's likely to be an All-Star for the sixth time in his career.

However, things will look a little different this year, as the NBA has already announced a new format for All-Star weekend, with the league set to follow the NHL and make this an international affair. As a result, Towns has now revealed his allegiance to the World vs. US format, stating that if he does indeed become an All-Star again, he would like to represent Team World given his Dominican ancestry.

That World team could be one of the most loaded in recent memory, with Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, just to name a few, set to represent that squad.

Despite being born in New Jersey, Towns proudly represents his heritage, revealing recently that with his NBA Cup victory paycheck, he would continue to support the initiatives he's begun in the Dominican. Only time will tell if Towns becomes an All-Star, but if he does, expect him to join the loaded World team that could be one of the most talented lineups ever put together in basketball history.
