Who Will Welcome Steph Curry Into The Hall Of Fame? Here Are The Four Icons On His Wishlist
Jan 8, 2026
There’s no debate that Steph Curry will end up in the Basketball Hall of Fame someday. The real question is: Which icons will be welcoming him into that elite group?
NBC analyst (and former slam dunk icon) Vince Carter posed this question to the Golden State Warriors superstar in a segment featured on Peacock. Paying a visit to a recent practice session in Toronto, Carter asked if Curry had ever spared a thought for the hoops legends that will be by his side for his HOF induction.
“I actually haven’t,” Curry admitted. After giving it a quick thought, he offered four names.
“You,” he said, leading Carter to chuckle. “Steve Nash, Reggie Miller, and Ray [Allen].”
To most NBA fans, three of the names that Curry rattled off are shoo-ins for his HOF ceremony. As Curry ascended the ranks of the greatest shooters in NBA history, he passed both Miller and Allen en route to becoming the all-time leader in three-pointers made. On the evening of December 14, 2021, when Curry hit the 2,974th three-point shot of his NBA career, Miller and Allen were on hand in Madison Square Garden to congratulate the new king.
Curry, in fact, has gone on record as saying that Miller was his childhood idol. On the court, the similarities between the two sharpshooters are unmistakable. After all, the former Indiana Pacers mainstay was also a not-so-bulked-up guard who thrived on relentlessly moving off the ball until he got a quality look.

Another guard with a palpable influence on Curry was Nash. In the mid-2000s, Nash was at the forefront of a revolution predicated on up-tempo play, better floor spacing, and an increased volume of outside shooting. It’s hard to look at Nash’s Phoenix Suns in those days and not see the playbook that Curry and head coach Steve Kerr perfected in Golden State.
So, why Carter? While the eight-time All-Star appears to be the odd man out, as he was more of a scorer than a shooter, Carter did play a role in Curry’s development.
Back in Carter’s days with the Toronto Raptors, he teamed with Curry’s father, Dell, who would bring young Steph to the practice facility. At times, Carter would even indulge the youngster in one-on-one games. “I was just hanging out with this guy for three years in this gym,” Curry said in the Peacock segment.
If Curry were to be inducted into the Hall of Fame tomorrow, he wouldn’t have to worry about calling up some random basketball legend. Carter helped him finalize that list and, perhaps not so coincidentally, Carter made the list as well.
