Jonathan Kuminga's Teammate Calls Out Young Star's Maturity
Oct 28, 2025
Over the last few seasons, the Jonathan Kuminga situation in Golden State has been a bit sticky. Kuminga believed that he was a star without an opportunity to flourish, while the Warriors were frustrated with Kuminga’s ability to help the team by doing the little things.
This conflict resulted in veiled quotes in the media, being yanked in and out of the Warriors’ rotation, and eventually a long contract dispute that ended in Kuminga signing a short-term deal this offseason.
Fortunately for both sides, with the contract behind them, it seems like everyone is ready to move toward a better future.

So far this season, Kuminga looks like he has taken the Warriors' requests seriously and is playing the best basketball of his career.
Moses Moody, Kuminga’s draft classmate, spoke on the differences he’s seen in Kuminga this year. “I’ve seen JK go through a journey… It’s really impressive to me. Like this summer, whatever the drama was, him getting here and the attitude and the energy he had even when stuff wasn’t going his way. The person he was able to be. The way he played on the court. Maturity is what it seems like.”
Kuminga does look like a completely matured player. His numbers way up across the board. Through four games, he is averaging career highs with 18 points, eight rebounds, and four assists per game. Last season he averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists.

The new and improved “mature” Kuminga may be having his breakout season right before our eyes.
