Draymond Discusses When He Thinks it Will be Time to Retire
Nov 5, 2025
Draymond Green has had an incredible career. If he retired today, his accolades would surely put him in the Hall of Fame. Draymond Green is a four-time NBA champion, four-time NBA All-Star, nine-time NBA All-Defensive Team selection, 2017 NBA Defensive Player of the Year, and two-time All-NBA Team member. He is one of the greatest defenders of all time and a core piece to arguably the most dominant franchise in recent NBA history.
That being said, Green is getting up there in age, and he knows that the end is somewhat near.

He was still named to the First Team All-Defensive team last season. While he has lost a step, he is still one of the most impactful defenders in the league. So, even though he can still play, when will it be time for Draymond to call it quits?
Draymond recently spoke about retirement and how he will know when it’s time.
“My body feels better and better every year. I’ve learned more about my body and what I need to do. I still enjoy competing at the highest level. I still enjoy setting this goal and then going through the process and trying to reach it. So I wouldn’t necessarily say (he’ll only play) a year or two, like I would have said a year ago. I don’t really put a number on it, either. Like I’ve always said, the game will tell me when it’s time to go.”
A league without Draymond Green will be a worse one. He brings so much intensity and entertainment to the game, not to mention his elite basketball IQ. Hopefully, we get a few more years of Draymond, and it sounds like we might.
