Bruce Brown Calls Out NBA Officials Bias Towards Thunder Star Lu Dort
Nov 5, 2025
Last season was the year of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA, with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander taking home MVP while the team won their first ever NBA Championship. Obviously, with that success comes a bigger spotlight and plenty of hatred, especially on social media, and after an 8-0 start to the season in 2025/26, that hatred only continues to grow.
It's not just from the fans however, as opposing teams see the way this team is set up for the future and can't help but be jealous of what appears to be a very lengthy Championship window. One key complaint of many fans on social media is the whistle of Gilgeous-Alexander, who has become known as the biggest foul baiter, perhaps in NBA history.
It's not just SGA that gets a good whistle however, as Lu Dort has become infamous for being incredibly physical without consequence, and after a showdown with the Thunder, Nuggets guard Bruce Brown has called out the officials for it.
“They’ll let things go because they know you’re a physical defender…Lu Dort has a reputation of being a physical defender, so they don’t really call much on him…”
This is something that fans have noticed over the past year, with Dort able to use physicality that the officials won't let other players get away with, and clearly, it's giving the Thunder a major advantage. That's not to say that this is the reason why the Thunder won the NBA title a year ago, but if players keep calling it out, then perhaps they may end up getting a fair whistle against Oklahoma City.
