Latest Report On Cade Cunningham Is A Positive One For Detroit Pistons Fans
Apr 7, 2026
The 2025/26 season has been an incredible one for the Detroit Pistons, and after taking a step forward a year ago, they have taken a major leap, with the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference locked in. With Cade Cunningham leading the way, this team is arguably the deepest in the entire NBA, and while they aren't favored for the NBA Championship, they're seen as the most legitimate threat in the East.
Unfortunately, those hopes recently took a blow when Cunningham was ruled out indefinitely on March 19th with a collapsed lung, something that some believed could keep him out until the playoffs. Now however, a positive update has come through on the Pistons leader, as he has been upgraded to doubtful after being out, and now, Shams Charania has revealed he may return in the regular season.
“Cade Cunningham is getting close on a return to action. There is optimism that he’s gonna be back before the season is over potentially before the playoffs. He is in a return to play protocol now.”
Even without Cunningham, the Pistons have continued rolling, but if they are to matchup with Boston, New York or any of the top teams in the West en route to an NBA Championship, they need their star point guard.

Ultimately, this team may not be ready to take that final jump to an NBA Championship, but if they want to give themselves the best chance possible, the return of Cunningham and his 24/6/9 production will help that immensely.
