Devin Vassell Makes Surprising Spurs History With His Latest Performance

Back in the 2020 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs picked Devin Vassell with the No. 11 overall draft pick, and it appears to have turned out positively. At the time, it was a move that was highly overlooked, but with the additions of other young stars like Victor Wembanyama and Stephon Castle, he has settled into his role well.

Over the past three seasons, Vassell has averaged 19, 20, and 17 points per game, blossoming into a very solid two-way wing at the NBA level. Not many expected him to be a franchise star, and while he's overshadowed by his teammates, he has now surprisingly made Spurs history.

After shooting 37% from beyond the arc for his career, Vassell drained the 659th three of his career recently, taking him to fifth on the Spurs' all-time leaderboard.

Ahead of him are franchise legends like Bruce Bowen, Manu Ginobili, Danny Green and Patty Mills, and while he's still 500 away from first place, if he continues to perform like this, he could find himself atop this list one day.

Sure, the three is much more prioritized in today's NBA, but given how consistent Vassell has been in San Antonio, it's a very impressive list he finds himself on. Only time will tell if Vassell can continue the hot start to his NBA career, but with the Spurs getting better and better as a team, he's found a role that could lead to plenty of success moving forward.
