Brandon Ingram Reveals Why He Signed With The Toronto Raptors

Last season, the Toronto Raptors made the shock trade to land Brandon Ingram from the New Orleans Pelicans, adding him to a core of Scottie Barnes, RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley, and Gradey Dick. This season, they've taken a step forward, posting a 16–11 record through 27 games played, and in a weakened Eastern Conference, with the core locked in, this could be a successful team for years to come.

While many have played a role in the Raptors' solid start, it's Ingram leading the way with 22 points a night, and after signing a three-year, $120 million extension earlier this year, it's what was expected of him. Now, Ingram has opened up on signing that extension, revealing why he chose the Raptors to be traded to and why he wanted to extend with the team.

“I told myself whoever wanted me, that I was going to be content in being there. Around the trade deadline, I heard two or three teams & I picked the best choice where I knew I was going to get a fresh start.”

There's no better place for an NBA player to get a fresh start than in Canada, and with Ingram slotting in perfectly with this young core, it's safe to say that he made the right call.

Only time will tell if they can experience some NBA Playoffs success together, but with depth at every position and plenty of optimism for the future, it's very easy to see why Ingram chose Toronto as his latest NBA home.
