Brooklyn Nets Reportedly Open To Trading Star Forward Michael Porter Jr. This Season

The Brooklyn Nets have made it abundantly clear that they are in a major rebuild, and that began this past offseason when they used five first-round picks in the 2025 NBA Draft. They were able to make those picks due to several trades involving Kevin Durant and Mikal Bridges, and in the offseason, they made another trade that saw them acquire Michael Porter Jr.

In his first season with the Nets, MPJ has been producing at a very high level, averaging 26 points, seven rebounds, and three assists, becoming the clear leader of this young team. However, the Nets are still clearly in a rebuild, and that has led to a report from Erik Slater that revealed they are very open to moving the former Nuggets star.

“Porter Jr. is expected to draw interest on the trade market amid his red-hot start. The Nets are likely to gauge offers for the veteran, whom they acquired alongside an unprotected Nuggets 2032 first-round pick for Cam Johnson.”

As of right now, they clearly aren't aggressively shopping him, but given what an offensive force that he is, a contending team could clearly look to make a move for the 27-year-old sharp-shooter.

Ultimately, the deal to land Porter was a great one for the Nets, adding on to their already significant pool of future assets, and if they can use that to flip him for more future assets, it will be great business for Brooklyn as they look to continue their major rebuild.
