Nikola Jokic Makes More Surprising NBA History Following Latest Performance
Dec 19, 2025
Nikola Jokic has already cemented himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history, and with his start to the 2025–26 season, he's put himself right at the top of the MVP race. If he continues at this pace, that would give him his fourth career MVP award, and if he's not already considered top-10 all-time, that would easily cement him in that position.
While there have always been question marks about him on the defensive end of the floor, he's one of the greatest offensive forces we've ever seen in the NBA, and his latest performance is proof positive of that. With a 23-point, 11-rebound, and 13-assist triple-double against the Orlando Magic, Jokic has made history, as he now has the most assists by a center in NBA history.
Those 13 assists have taken him to 5,667 all-time, and if he continues on this trajectory, he could find himself well and truly in the top-10 all-time when his career is over. After the game, Jokic was asked about it, and while he states that it's something he's going to look back on one day, he's clearly proud of yet another achievement in his incredible career.
"I always say those things are something for after the career. I'm gonna look back, on the porch, drinking beer and telling lies to my kids."
As of right now, Jokic likely isn't the best big man in NBA history, but if this pace keeps up and he can win at least one more ring, this will be yet another argument to use for those who want to place him in those discussions.
