Tyler Herro Praises Heat Teammate For Helping Keep the Team Afloat

The Miami Heat have been doing fairly well without their leading scorer from last season. Star guard Tyler Herro has yet to play in a game for the Heat, and many expected them to struggle immensely to start the season. However, the Heat started the season off hot, and are now 7–6 as the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.

While the Heat treaded water without Herro in the lineup, a new scoring force has emerged as the offensive leader of the team. Norman Powell, whom the Heat traded for from Los Angeles this summer, has been killing it offensively in Miami. He is currently averaging 26.1 points while shooting 48.2% from the field and 47.9% from three so far this year.

Herro spoke on Powell’s fit with the Heat so far, and the praise was high.

“He’s been killing it — I don’t expect anything to change. He’s a hell of an offensive player, he’s gonna continue to do that for us all season. He opens up a lot for our offense.”

Instead of being threatened by another player being the top scorer, Herro is showing a lot of maturity in saying how excited he is for Powell to continue to kill it in the Heat’s offense.

For Herro, having another threat like Powell on the floor is also a good thing for him. He should be able to have more spacing and less defensive attention with another huge scoring threat out on the court with him.

If Powell can continue to keep up his production with Herro back in the lineup, the two could form quite the one-two punch on offense.
