Two Top New York Knicks Stars Have Lost Trade Value Since Arriving With The Team
Feb 2, 2026
The New York Knicks have had an up-and-down 2025–26 season thus far, but as of late, they've found their best game again, winning six in a row after dropping four straight before then. With an overall record of 31–18, they sit in second place in the Eastern Conference standings, but ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, there's been plenty of chatter about changes this organization could make.
Two players that have been involved in that speculation are Karl-Anthony Towns and Mikal Bridges, two players that the team acquired just last offseason ahead of the 2024–25 campaign. However, a report from James Edwards has now speculated that not just one, but both have lost trade value since arriving in New York, and as a result, it becomes very tough to trade either.
"Per league sources, the Knicks will be one of several teams that have and will continue to inquire heavily about Antetokounmpo. The Bucks are looking for a premier young player(s) and multiple good draft picks in exchange for one of the three best players in the NBA. The Knicks have neither of those, and to get close to what the Bucks are asking for, New York would need to trade two or three players in its starting lineup, most likely OG Anunoby, Bridges, and/or Towns. The latter two, per multiple league sources, aren't believed to have the same value today as when the Knicks traded for them, so that could be a hurdle in itself."
On paper, this team is a good one, and they could contend in 2026 if healthy, but if they are looking to make some changes, both players could see them net a solid return.

Ultimately, though, as of right now, with the loss of value and the way this team is built, it appears as though the Knicks may not be making a blockbuster deal ahead of the trade deadline.
