Report: The Timberwolves Did Not Prevent Donte DiVincenzo From Plaing in EuroBasket

According to Timberwolves' sources, the team did not block Donte DiVincenzo from playing for Team Italy during this year's EuroBasket tournament.

Many of the game's European stars will be taking part in the tournament, which is being held in Riga, Latvia. DiVincenzo is not from Europe; he is from Delaware. The shooting guard was going to be allowed to play in the tournament due to his European heritage.
Earlier in July, however, DiVincenzo dropped out of the tournament due to the potential for injury. According to Jon Krawczynski from The Athletic, the decision was made by the player and not the team. He writes:
"DiVincenzo was planning to play for Italy at EuroBasket starting at the end of the month, but he pulled out as a precaution to ensure he is healthy entering training camp. There is no concern about the toe injury that caused him to miss time last season. The Timberwolves did not block him from playing, according to team sources."
A superstar player at Villanova, DiVincenzo was drafted 17th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2018 NBA Draft. He spent multiple seasons in Milwaukee, winning an NBA title in 2021.
The Big Ragu had a breakout season for the New York Knicks in 2023-24, averaging 15.5 points a game and playing even better in the teams deep playoff run. The Knicks turned around and traded DiVincenzo to Minnesota last year in a deal to acquire Karl-Anthony Towns. He played big minutes for a strong Timberwolves team, notching 11.7 points per game.
