Norman Powell Reacts To His Former Team's Struggles Early in 2025/26

This offseason, Norman Powell was dealt in a three-team deal to the Miami Heat, with the Los Angeles Clippers looking to clear up room to add Chris Paul and Bradley Beal. In Miami, Powell is thriving, averaging 25 points a night on a team that is currently sitting at 14–7 through their first 21 games.

Things could not be more different for the Clippers, as their slow start has been one of the stories of the NBA, with the team going 5–16 through their first 21 games. That's a result of injuries and their veterans simply not being at their best anymore, and recently, Powell was asked about his former team.

While he didn't take a shot at them, Powell is seemingly as surprised as anyone that they've struggled as badly as they have, but he notes that they're not something he's concerned with any longer.

“I would’ve never guessed they were gonna be 5–16… That’s something for them to have to deal with and handle. I’m not worried about them anymore.”

Given that their lineup is led by the likes of James Harden and Kawhi Leonard, many around the NBA expected them to at the very least be a playoff threat in 2025–26, but through a quarter of the season, they look absolutely old and terrible.

Powell appeared to be frustrated with the trade at the time, but given how well he and the Heat are playing to start the season, it's safe to say that, as of right now, he'd be thrilled with departing the Clippers.
