Steve Kerr Won't Confirm Warriors' Starting Lineup For This Season Quite Yet

The Golden State Warriors' starting lineup is always a bit of a mystery. Coach Steve Kerr likes to switch things up a lot during the season, which is why Warriors fans can expect to see a ton of different starting lineups throughout the year.

That being said, it seems pretty likely that Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green will all be starting. That leaves the shooting guard and center positions up for the taking.

Here’s what Kerr had to say about who could start on opening night this year.

“I can't say that yet. We've got to see where we are. Brandin's going to play a ton. He's a hugely important player for us. But the starting lineup frankly is a little tricky for us, given the pieces and Al's age. If Al were a little younger, he would be in the starting lineup for sure. If he’s going to play limited minutes, it’s tougher to start him and finish the game.”

While many people believed that Al Horford was very likely to start at center for the Warriors, it sounds like Kerr is considering all options. Kerr will likely want to split up a lot of Draymond and Horford’s minutes, meaning either of them could come off the bench to start the game.

The shooting guard position is going to come down to Brandin Podziemski or Moses Moody. Both fit in really well with the starters and have shown improvement in each of their first few NBA seasons.

Even though Podziemski may be the better player, Kerr could end up bringing him off the bench. The Warriors are desperate for some more playmaking and ball handling from their second unit, and Podziemski could help bridge that gap.

Regardless of who ends up starting, Kerr won’t let that define who starts other parts of the season or finishes games. Kerr likes to keep everyone on their toes when it comes to lineups, and for better or for worse, it looks like he will be doing that again this year.
