New Orleans Pelicans Reportedly Considering Firing Their Head Coach

The New Orleans Pelicans have made some shocking decisions in recent times, such as trading their unprotected first-round pick in 2026, and now that deal looks terrible. After four games this season, the Pelicans sit at 0–4 with a –76-point differential, and as a result, there could be some very big changes coming in the near future for the struggling organization.

This isn't for a lack of talent, however, as the team is led by the likes of Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, Yves Missi, and Trey Murphy III, meaning something else must be holding them back. Now, according to Brett Siegel, the team may have identified coach Willie Green as that major source of weakness, with reports emerging that they are considering firing him after an incredibly slow start to the season.

“Several players have appeared disinterested and frustrated with how Green's lineups are being handled, sources said.”

While the Pelicans didn't come into 2025–26 expecting to be genuine contenders in the loaded Western Conference, they were hoping for more than they've seen thus far, and despite finishing over .500 twice in his tenure with New Orleans, these struggles could cost Green his job.

At this point in time, it's unclear how the Pelicans will proceed moving forward, as the team could make some major changes to their roster as well, but unless they can start showing more promise or stringing wins together, it could be the end for Green with the Pelicans.
