NBA Reporter Details Issues Between the Lakers and Anthony Davis In His Final Season In LA

Anthony Davis was involved in a massive, shocking trade a season ago involving Luka Doncic, but joining a team with Cooper Flagg, Kyrie Irving, and Klay Thompson, there were high hopes for him in Dallas. Unfortunately for the Mavericks, he has appeared in just five of a possible 12 games played this season, leading to plenty of speculation that the team could move on from him as well.

If that happens, this would be the third team that has traded away AD, and now, a report has revealed why his last team was happy to move on from the talented big man. According to Brett Siegel, it was a similar issue that Dallas has right now, as Rob Pelinka reportedly became frustrated that Davis continued to turn up out of shape and with his inability to stay healthy.

However, the final straw was when he publicly asked for the Lakers to bring in a new big man so he could shift back to power forward, and that clearly frustrated Pelinka, who was happy to move him after that. Also included in the report was the revelation that Davis almost went East to the Boston Celtics, as Pelinka was discussing a deal to send him to Boston, but when the Doncic deal came up, it was simply too good to pass up.

Ultimately, moving Davis was the right move for the Lakers, and now, the Mavericks are set to move on from him for similar reasons, so wherever Davis ends up, expect him to come back ready to prove a point this season.
