NBA Owner Compares Draymond Green to One of His Rivals

There aren’t many players like Draymond Green. He has won at every level of basketball he’s played. He will finish his career as one of the greatest defenders of all time, (at least) a four-time champion, and a key part of one of the greatest franchises in league history. Having a guy like Draymond on your team instantly raises the potential of your team.

On Draymond’s podcast, The Draymond Green Show, he recently interviewed Mat Ishbia, the Phoenix Suns' bold new owner. Ishbia explained that one player on the Suns can be attributed to the team outperforming expectations.

“Everyone understands we’re trying to compete every day. You [Draymond] are a floor raiser, a winner, a champion. How do I get people like that who care?

Dillon [Brooks] is definitely someone who cares. He might agitate the other 29 teams, but for us, he's exactly what we're about. He's a tough, hard-nosed guy who wants to compete every game, and he's going to do whatever he can to help us win.

Playing hard and caring about winning are skills, and you need to make sure your guys have those skills. I’m lucky to have guys like that and a great young head coach that’s bringing them all together.”

What is funny about this is that Brooks and Draymond have never gotten along. Whether it was the Grizzlies vs Warriors playoff series, or even last year when the Warriors went against the Houston Rockets, there is no love lost between Green and Brooks.

That being said, they are cut from a similar cloth. They are annoying, they are defensive-minded, and they help teams win.

Brooks may not go down in history as Draymond will, but if he continues to help teams win, he will be respected as the floor raiser that he is.
