NBA Teams Reportedly Not Lining Up to Land Mavericks Star Anthony Davis
Nov 25, 2025
The Dallas Mavericks are off to a terrible start in 2025–26 with a record of 5–14 through their first 19 games, leading to plenty of speculation over their future. With Cooper Flagg leading the way for the future as the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, there is plenty of promise, with the likelihood being that Dallas looks to rebuild their roster around their rising star.
This means that the likes of Klay Thompson, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis are all potentially on the trade block, especially if their early season struggles continue this way. Many fans simply assume that a player like AD is on the move, with recent reports linking him to several Eastern Conference teams, but apparently, it may not be that easy.
According to ESPN's Tim Bontemps, while it's still possible that AD gets traded, teams aren't lining up to add the All-NBA big man, given his history of injuries and his current struggles to stay healthy.
“I shouldn't say it's not gonna happen... but, you talk to people in the league, there's not a lot of teams that are lining up to take on a 35-year-old Anthony Davis making $63 million.”
The Mavericks' latest game, a loss to the Miami Heat, marks 14 straight games missed for Davis, and dating back to being acquired for Luka Doncic last season, he's missed over 70% of the team's games, so right now, it makes sense that teams aren't fighting it out to land the injury-prone AD.
