NBA Insider Reveals Shocking Update On Kyrie Irving's Return From An ACL Tear
Nov 18, 2025
Last season, Kyrie Irving looked primed to lead the Dallas Mavericks deep in the NBA Playoffs once more, but unfortunately, he was struck with a brutal injury blow. Just weeks before the postseason, Irving suffered an ACL tear, but given the timing, there was hope that he could return at some point during the 2025–26 campaign.
According to reports, the veteran point guard is rehabbing and training as though he will play at some point this year, even with the Mavericks off to a poor start, posting a 4–11 record through their first 15 games. Now, Marc Spears has revealed a surprising comment from someone close to Irving, who revealed to the reporter that if it was the playoffs right now, the veteran could be on the floor.
“Someone close to him told me if it was the playoffs, he could play right now.”
Last season, Irving averaged 25, five, and five across his 50 games, but given that he is now 33 years old, returning from an ACL injury will be much harder than it would have been in his younger years. Still, he is working hard on his return, and with the playoffs still a matter of five months away, it's likely that we'll see him on the floor for Dallas in the regular season.

It's unclear exactly what shape the Mavericks will be in when Irving eventually does return, but given how motivated he has been during his rehab, it's a matter of when, not if, he will once again take the floor for Dallas.
