NBA Insider Names Who He Thinks is LeBron's Best Teammate Ever

LeBron James has had a lot of great teammates throughout his career. It’s one of the biggest knocks on his legacy. Wherever he has gone, he has made sure that Hall of Fame–level teammates either joined him or were already there.

When debating who LeBron’s greatest teammates were, there are pretty much three names that can’t be denied: Dwyane Wade, Kyrie Irving, and Anthony Davis.

Long-time LeBron-lover and NBA insider Brian Windhorst revealed who he believes was LeBron’s best and most compatible teammate.

“In my opinion, the best, most compatible teammate LeBron has ever had is Kyrie. There were moments where he and Wade were transcendent, there were moments where he and AD were impossible to deal with. The guy who he played with who best fit his skill set was Kyrie, because you need a guy who can handle the ball that is also awesome off the ball.”

Windhorst has a good argument here. When Kyrie and LeBron were on the court together, they were very difficult to beat. If they hadn’t continually run into the Golden State Warriors dynasty, they probably would have had more than one championship to show for all their success.

When you talk about best-fit, Kyrie is possibly the best. However, as overall players, Davis and Wade have a better argument.

Both Wade and Davis have defensive skills that Kyrie can’t even come close to. Wade has made the NBA All-Defensive Team three times, while Davis has made it five times.

Having a star teammate next to you that can dominate both offensively and defensively is huge. It’s a lot of what gave LeBron the flexibility to save energy for the most important parts of the game. Being able to rely on your teammate to potentially guard the best player on the other team is a huge luxury that LeBron absolutely took advantage of.

So, is Kyrie LeBron’s greatest teammate? Maybe not. But he certainly is one of the best.
