MVP Candidate Victor Wembanyama Set To Miss Time After Tough Injury
Nov 18, 2025
Victor Wembanyama entered the NBA as one of, if not the most hyped, prospects in league history, and from the moment he stepped on the floor, it was clear that his game would take him to new heights. After missing plenty of time a year ago due to a medical issue, Wembanyama and the Spurs have hit the ground running in 2025–26, as they've established themselves as a threat in the West with a record of 9–4 through their first 13 games.
However, they've now been dealt a major blow, as Wemby is set to miss at least two weeks of action, according to a report from ESPN insider Shams Charania.
That absence comes from a left calf strain, and given how important No. 1 is to the future of the NBA and the Spurs organization, it's no surprise that they're going to be as careful as possible with him. Early in the year, Wembanyama has been ridiculous, averaging 26 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists on 50% shooting from the floor, showing why he's going to be an MVP candidate for years to come in the NBA.

Without Wemby, the Spurs still have a solid core that can get the job done, but if they are to be a genuine NBA Championship threat this season, they need him to be the player he has been over the past few weeks, as he makes this team one of the most exciting to watch in the entire league.
