Luka Doncic Reveals His Goals for Career As a Laker

Being on the Los Angeles Lakers comes with its own set of rules, pressure, and expectations. As one of the winningest franchises in NBA history, their goal is always clear: hang more purple and yellow banners.

When the Lakers traded for Luka Doncic last season, their path to more championships became much clearer. Luka is the type of talent that can bring a team to the NBA Finals almost all by himself. If he can get the proper pieces put around him, he could easily bring another championship to Los Angeles.

Is that what Luka wants? He recently spoke about what he plans to achieve in a Lakers uniform.

“Kobe brought so many championships here. LeBron brought a championship here. So I want to be the next one to do that, for sure. I met Kobe, I’m playing with LeBron, just as a little kid in Slovenia, I just wanted to play basketball. Just wanted to touch the NBA. And now I’m playing with the best.”

Luka is using the great Lakers who played before him as inspiration. Especially because the championship that LeBron brought to the Lakers has a bit of an asterisk. Therefore, if Luka could bring a legitimate title to Lakers fans, he would be cherished forever.

There also aren’t any mixed emotions when it comes to Luka and Lakers fans. LeBron spent years as an adversary of Kobe, making rooting for him difficult for some Lakers faithful.

Luka, on the other hand, has a clean slate. He has come to save the Lakers from whatever the post-LeBron era was going to look like. He might not win it all this season, but his goals are clear. Before he leaves LA, he wants to bring another championship to the City of Angels.
