Jeff Teague Compares Covering Steph Curry to Covering Kyrie Irving

During a recent podcast broadcast, former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague explained why he would rather cover Kyrie Irving than Stephen Curry.

It has never been easy to be a defender in the NBA, but the game moves faster than ever before which can make d'ing certain players a nightmare. Two of the acknowledged toughest covers in the NBA are Kyrie Irving and Stephen Curry. They get there in different ways.
Irving is incredibly fast and could pull off any one on one move there is. If a defender sags off him, though, he can make them pay with a silky smooth jump shot.
Curry is quite possibly the greatest shooter in league history, especially considering the volume. He is also an incredible passer with nifty moves once he gets a defender off his feet.
Teague compared the two players during his Club 520 Project. He said:
They’re both tough covers, but I’d rather guard Kyrie. At least you know where Kyrie’s going to be. You going to catch him right at that pass, wherever he’s going to be at in ISO. You look one way, Steph takes off the other. And then you got to catch up. He just causes too much havoc once he moves.Steph is constantly moving, hitting through screens. You’re scared of him hitting a 3, so you don’t want to go out there, but you’ve got to be locked in for sure."
Considering how deep Irving's offensive bag is, Teague's answer could be a little surprising. Still, he makes a good case for Curry as a tougher cover.
