Golden State Warriors Rising Star Remains Top Priority For A Division Rival
Dec 30, 2025
The Golden State Warriors have been surrounded by trade chatter dating back to the summer, but thus far, they've now made a blockbuster deal since acquiring Jimmy Butler at the deadline a year ago. This season, it appears as though they are destined to make another big deal, whether that be to acquire another superstar for one final run at an NBA Championship or to move one of their veteran pieces to get younger.
The player that seems most likely to be dealt continues to be former first-round pick Jonathan Kuminga, who has settled in at a solid 12–15 points per game across five seasons in his career. Now, reports continue to speculate that the Sacramento Kings are the team in hot pursuit of the 23-year-old, with the team still hoping to add him and give him a major role alongside Keegan Murray and their young core moving forward.
As of right now, the Kings have the likes of Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Malik Monk, among others, ready to be dealt, and if the Warriors have any interest in any of those players and draft capital, then a deal could still be had between division foes.

Ultimately, Kuminga hasn't grown into the star that Golden State was looking for when they moved on from Klay Thompson, and if they get the chance to land a much more proven veteran in a deal involving Kuminga, don't be shocked to see it happen in the coming months.
