Giannis Reacts to Bam Adebayo's 83-Point Night

Bam Adebayo made NBA history on Tuesday night. Adebayo became the third player ever to score more than 80 points in an NBA game and landed the number two spot in most points ever scored in a game behind Wilt Chamberlain’s 100-point game.

Adebayo scored 83 points, on 20-of-43 shooting and 36-of-43 from the free throw line. This was the most free throws ever attempted in an NBA game.

While Adebayo’s night is obviously incredible and historical, there have been some saying that he didn’t reach the 83-point mark in the most legitimate way. Towards the end of the game, the Miami Heat, who were up by 20+ points, were intentionally fouling the Washington Wizards to extend the game and give Adebayo more chances at scoring. He also shot a ton of free throws, taking a bit away from the feat.

Giannis Antetokounmpo was asked about Bam’s big night and whether he felt like the accomplishment was legit.

"It doesn't matter how you get there. All that matters is that you got it. Like in 30 years from now, nobody's going to remember how many free throws he shot. I don't think I remember how many shots Kobe had or how many free throws he made or threes. All you remember is 81. Wilt, 100. You don't remember how they scored. So, at the end of the day, he got 83 points."

Giannis is right. Nobody remembers the little things about Kobe or Wilt’s big nights. They remember the final number. For Bam, he will always be remembered for 83, not the intentional fouling or the excessive free throws.
