Former Nuggets Champion Thinks Nikola Jokic is Better Than This All-Time Great

The debate about who is the greatest basketball player of all time will never end. Every few years it seems like the next dominant star in the league gets brought up in the conversation, worthy or not. Of course, most people think the GOAT debate is between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. However, are there some other players that need to be considered? Definitely.

One of those players might end up being Nikola Jokic. While Jokic is only 31 years old and has a lot of basketball left to play in his career, his resume already looks incredible. Jokic has three MVP awards and an NBA championship, and has done it playing without any elite star teammates. Jordan and LeBron can’t say the same.

One of Jokic’s former teammates, Michael Porter Jr., recently spoke about why he thinks Jokic is the GOAT.

“People will say Michael Jordan just to agree but they haven’t watched the film. They’ll just say it to agree with everyone else. For me, with my two eyes from what I’ve seen, I’m going to say Nikola Jokic is the best player I’ve ever seen… From what I’ve seen day to day, I haven’t seen anybody as dominant as Nikola.”

MPJ is known for saying outlandish things, and this will likely be added to the list. Yes, Jokic is definitely one of the greatest players ever, but to compare him to Michael Jordan feels like a bit of a stretch.

Statistically and individually, Jokic’s numbers can be put up against anyone in NBA history. However, when it comes to the GOAT debate, winning matters. Jokic needs to grab another championship or two before being put into this conversation.
