Doc Rivers Reveals What Went Wrong During Key Moment in Timberwolves Game
Dec 22, 2025
The Milwaukee Bucks need every win they can get. As of Monday, they are the 11th seed in the Eastern Conference with an extremely disappointing record of 11–18. Their star player, Giannis Antetokounmpo, is also rumored to be considering a trade request, meaning every game the Bucks lose adds pressure to an already uncomfortable situation.
In Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Bucks looked like they were going to get an upset win against one of the Western Conference elite. Unfortunately, a third-quarter breakdown led to the Bucks losing the lead and eventually the game.

Here’s what Bucks’ coach Doc Rivers had to say about the team’s meltdown during a 23–4 Wolves’ run.
"Just lost our rhythm. I thought it started in the middle of the second quarter, personally, even though we got the lead back up. I thought we played - like the ball hit the paint, kept getting out to 3s, everything was a quick decision. Then I thought the ball started sticking a little bit, started turning the ball over. I tell you, we're a great shooting team, and we couldn't make a shot tonight. 14-for-45 from the 3, and 40 of them were wide-open, so we'll take those all night. I loved how we played, I just didn't like that we missed shots. Can't do anything about that. I thought we competed on the glass all night, but there was a four-minute stretch where we stopped doing that (in the third quarter), and then I thought the turnovers."
It sounds like Rivers doesn't believe that the Bucks' lost lead was much more than a few shots that didn't go their way. Unfortunately, that happens sometimes in basketball, and there isn't all that much that can be done about it.
