Cooper Flagg Reveals His Thoughts on Facing the Los Angeles Lakers
Nov 25, 2025
For the foreseeable future, the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers will be linked. That’s what happens when one team trades its franchise superstar to one of the biggest markets in the league for what looks like 50 cents on the dollar. Of course, Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis will be the biggest subjects of this connection between the Mavericks and Lakers, but the number one overall pick and new franchise star of the Mavericks, Cooper Flagg, will be looped into it as well.

Flagg was recently asked his thoughts on playing the Lakers and whether he’s nervous about playing the Lakers.
"I would say to me, it's another game. I know there's gonna be a lot of other things that go into that game & through a lot of these guys' mindsets & whatnot. For me, it's just another game. I'm trying to survive day by day, take everything one day at a time, one game at a time. Right now, we're just trying to find ways to win."
This is the right mentality for Flagg. No game should mean more than any other at this point in the season for the Mavericks or Flagg. As of Tuesday, the Mavericks are 5-14, which puts them at the 14th seed in the Western Conference. They can’t afford to be doing anything but trying to win the game in front of them.
Flagg has already shown a ton of maturity early in his NBA career. He’s had to navigate the aftermath of the terrible Luka Doncic trade. He’s done so with grace. While Flagg continues to do and say the right things, people will constantly try to bait him into saying controversial things, especially about Luka and the Lakers.
