NBA Insider Reveals That Minnesota Are Likely Out On Free Agent Malik Beasley

Now that the gambling drama is somewhat behind him, veteran sharpshooter Malik Beasley remains a free agent, with many teams interested in the former Pistons forward. As soon as he was cleared to return to the NBA, rumours emerged that four top contenders (the Knicks, Timberwolves, Cavaliers and Pistons) were all interested, with all representing perfect fits for him.

All three Eastern Conference teams have spots remaining for Beasley and significant roles for him, but according to the latest report, Minnesota may be out on the former Timberwolves role player. In a report from Jon Krawczynski, he all but rules out a reunion with Minnesota, barring a major and unforeseen change with the team and the player.

"Beasley was here, he had a good season here, but he also had plenty of off-the-court issues here as well. I think that maybe there was a conversation or something with Beasley's representatives, just checking things out, but I do not get the sense that there's anything serious with Malik Beasley and I would not expect him to be on the Timberwolves roster come training camp, barring some major change that I just don't see coming."

While the team do have an open spot, they're likely to fill it with a cheaper alternative, as their rotation is set up for the 2025/26 campaign, with Beasley not likely to take a reduced role this off-season. At this point, it's likely between Cleveland, New York and Detroit for the 28-year old who shot 41% from three last season, and with his talent, he could be a deciding factor in the post-season race this year.
