Predicting the Warriors Projected Starting Lineup for the 2025-26 NBA Season
Sep 23, 2025
Everyone is waiting for the Golden State Warriors to make a move. They’ve made zero signings this offseason and already lost a key rotation player in Kevon Looney. The Jonathan Kuminga contract stalemate has caused the Warriors to lose out on some potential free-agent targets, and they are now stuck with what is left.
Still, there is some reason for optimism. Marc Stein of the Stein Line reported earlier this week that the Warriors will sign Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, Gary Payton II, and Seth Curry next week when Kuminga’s contract is sorted.
So it sounds like the Warriors have their roster pretty set. But what will their starting lineup look like?
Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green are all in for sure. The rest of the lineup, however, could go a lot of different ways.
The Warriors have said they don’t want to play Draymond too many minutes at center. Expect Horford to at least start at center.
The shooting guard position is the biggest question. The Warriors probably have too many shooting guards on their roster. Buddy Hield, Moses Moody, Brandin Podziemski, Melton, GP2, and Seth Curry could all play the two next to Curry.

Moody or Melton is probably the best option. The Warriors need some defensive presence in their backcourt, and these two can both guard and shoot threes.
Moody seems like the best bet. Kerr has often gone to Moody in the starting lineup due to his size, defensive versatility, and improving shooting.
Obviously, Kerr likes to change and shake things up throughout the season. Expect Kuminga to start some games, Melton as well. Podziemski could even get those minutes if he continues to improve.
But, for now, expect the lineup of Curry, Butler, Moody, Draymond, and Horford to open the season as the Warriors’ starters.
