Brooklyn Nets Looking to Trade Cam Thomas Despite No Market For Him

Over this past offseason, one of the biggest stories in the NBA was the future of Cam Thomas in Brooklyn, with the two parties coming together on a one-year deal as a result of him accepting the team's qualifying offer. Many believed there would be the potential for a long-term deal in Brooklyn, especially given how solid a scorer he's been in his tenure there.

However, the team acquired five players in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft, and as a result, they're likely looking to build around those players for the future. So, where does that leave Thomas? According to reports, the team is looking to move him, but given his ball-dominant nature and inefficiency, there's very little market for him as of right now.

“The Nets are expected to gauge the market for Thomas, who rejected a two-year, $30 million deal with a team option for the second season and a one-year, $9.5 million contract with incentives up to $11 million while waiving the no-trade clause… There has to be a market for Thomas, and multiple league sources have told The Post there simply isn’t one.”

This year, Thomas is averaging 21 points and three assists across eight games played for the Nets, and while he's shown promise as a playmaker, he's made it clear in his career that he's an iso scorer and... nothing else. So now, the Nets will continue pushing hard to move him ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, with the hope that the market improves as teams' goals become clearer as this season draws on.
