Will The Miami Heat Trade Tyler Herro? Jeff Teague Thinks So
Nov 21, 2025
Tyler Herro has yet to play a single minute this season for the Miami Heat. Though he has added an All-Star appearance to his resume, one podcaster thinks that Herro’s time in South Beach will soon come to an end.
In an episode of his “520 in the Morning” show, Jeff Teague voiced out his belief that the Heat don’t have Herro in their long-term plans. When his co-host, DJ Wells, dished out praise for Miami after their 115–113 victory over the New York Knicks on Monday, Teague saw an opening to drop his speculation.
“Shoutout to the Heat, man. They still ain’t got Tyler Herro. Dangerous team for sure,” Wells commented.
“I think they’re gonna trade Tyler Herro, man,” Teague interjected.
Teague, who played 12 seasons in the NBA before he transitioned into podcasting, went on to explain that the Heat can afford to move forward without the sweet-shooting guard. “They’re playing good ball down there. They can get some pieces for him,” he argued.
The former All-Star guard then suggested a team that Herro could be shipped to. “I think they need to trade him to Milwaukee, bro,” Teague said. Wells, however, challenged this thought: “Who does Milwaukee have that the Heat may want?”
As it turns out, there’s a player on the Bucks roster who fits Heat culture quite nicely. Teague pointed out that Herro could be part of a package for Bobby Portis, the Bucks’ hardworking forward off the bench. Throughout his career, Portis has exemplified the qualities that Heat president Pat Riley typically looks for: fearlessness and a top-tier work ethic.

There are, of course, many questions surrounding this scenario. Does the Heat truly consider Herro dispensable as talented wings Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins, and Simone Fontecchio continue to play well this season? Are the Bucks looking to move Portis, and if they are, what type of package would Miami have to put together in order to let him go?
With the trade deadline looming in less than two months, these questions will have to be answered as both the Heat and the Bucks look to contend in the Eastern Conference.
