Warriors Face Disastrous Loss in Final Seconds of Philly Game
Dec 5, 2025
The Golden State Warriors blew it. At one point in their Thursday night game against the Philadelphia 76ers, they were down by 20 points. Then they came roaring all the way back, without Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, or Jimmy Butler, to take the lead in the final seconds of the game.
Then they gave it away. A failed inbound pass gave the Sixers the ball with seconds left, and a last-second tip-in and a game-sealing block by the Sixers put the Warriors away. This game had the Warriors fall below .500. They are the eighth seed in the Western Conference.

So why does this loss hurt so badly? For one, it had the potential to really be an inspirational win. To beat the fairly healthy Sixers, after being down 20, without any of their best players, could have been a huge confidence boost for the team.
Unfortunately, not only did they fail to do that, but Draymond Green also got injured in the loss. Green re-injured his foot in the game, left, and was unable to return.
Besides the incredible play of Pat Spencer, who had 16 points, four rebounds, and four assists off the bench, the other bright spot for the Warriors was that De’Anthony Melton looked solid in his first game back.
Melton hadn’t played since early last season, when he went down with a knee injury. However, Melton looked great in his return. He scored 14 points and had three rebounds and three “stocks.” While the Warriors' loss was incredibly disappointing, Melton and Spencer were the two bright spots that can bring a little optimism to an overall bad season for the Warriors.
