Viral Trade Proposal Sees Kyrie Irving-Kevin Durant Reunion In Houston
Nov 21, 2025
The Feb. 6 trade deadline is starting to weigh heavily on the minds of NBA teams, as a single trade can change their fortunes in both the short term and the long term. The Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis deal last season is proof that there is no limit to the possibilities when it comes to the mid-season flurry of trades.
For player-turned-content creator Theo Pinson, the Houston Rockets can swing a major trade in order to reunite their superstar Kevin Durant with one of his former running mates. This trade, however, could come at the cost of a young asset or two.
“If Kyrie [Irving] goes to Houston, oh my God,” Pinson said on a recent episode of the “To the Baha” podcast. “Bye bye, Amen.”
Pinson sounded like he was praying, but he was actually talking about the promising two-way guard that the Rockets might have to give up in this hypothetical deal. Amen Thompson, who is both a top scorer and a premier defender for Houston, would certainly pique the interest of the struggling Dallas Mavericks.
In that scenario, however, the Mavs could have some leverage to ask for more assets. Though Irving is recuperating from an ACL injury, he is still a spitfire guard with an NBA title on his resume.
“Would I give up [Alperen] Sengun?” Pinson wondered. “I don’t know if I say no way.”

This season, the only Rocket who comes close to Kevin Durant’s scoring average is Sengun, who is putting up 23.4 points per game. The two have spoken highly of each other in public, and their chemistry in the Houston frontcourt is a crucial part of Houston’s success in the first month of the 2025–26 campaign.
Would the Rockets, then, give up two cornerstones of the future to give Durant and Irving a chance to reach the heights they never did with the Brooklyn Nets?
“At this point, he’s in championship mode,” Pinson said of Irving. “Get [him] to a team that can win it.”
The Rockets are rolling, and Irving is still in rehabilitation mode, but NBA fans would be unwise to discount a Durant-Irving reunion as an impossibility. After all, Irving used to play with a young star who appeared to be untradeable for the rest of his career.
