Three-Star Point Guards May Be Undervalued on the Trade Market
Dec 4, 2025
This could be a very exciting NBA trade deadline. Not only does the league (outside of the Oklahoma City Thunder) seem to be in an era of extreme parity, but there are multiple stars who might be parting ways with their franchises this season.
Of course, Giannis Antetokounmpo is the name that most people are monitoring on the NBA trade market. However, he isn’t the only star who could be moved before this year’s trade deadline.
Tim MacMahon and Bobby Marks of ESPN recently wrote about three other stars who could be on the move this season.
"Charlotte's LaMelo Ball, Memphis' Ja Morant, and Atlanta's Trae Young all seem to be stuck in a sort of limbo with the franchises that they've been the faces of since entering the league as high lottery picks. There is rampant speculation among rival teams that Ball, Morant, and Young could all be available leading up to the Feb. 5 trade deadline.
For a variety of reasons, from their maximum contracts to their major flaws, it's not a discussion that generates much enthusiasm despite their status as big names who have put up big numbers.
It is wild to think that these guys, all NBA All-Stars and still quite young, aren’t demanding much interest on the trade market. They may be undervalued.

While they all have their flaws, the Eastern Conference, for example, is wide open. Adding any of these players to a mediocre Eastern Conference playoff team could vault them into a deep playoff run. Or what about rebuilding teams looking for a new star to lessen the pressure on their young players?
It just seems wild that none of those players are going to get interest from rival teams. Maybe they are being undervalued.
