The Milwaukee Bucks Reveal Their Starting Point Guard for the 2025/26 Season
Oct 2, 2025
Over the past 12 months, the Milwaukee Bucks have undergone plenty of change, and now, they've solidified their roster heading into the 2025–26 campaign. However, there was one major question hanging over their opening night lineup, with the team unsure about who would be their starting point guard.
Now, Head Coach Doc Rivers has officially confirmed that it will be Kevin Porter Jr. taking on the role, at least to start the new campaign, beating out newly acquired Cole Anthony for the role.
Already, the Bucks lineup of Gary Trent Jr., Kyle Kuzma, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Myles Turner made up the starting lineup, and now, it's KPJ to round out perhaps the most overlooked lineup in the NBA.
This leaves the first five off the bench as Anthony, AJ Green, Taurean Prince, Bobby Portis and Jericho Sims, and in an Eastern Conference that's been brutalized by injuries ahead of the new season, the Bucks are optimistic about their chances with this lineup.

Last season, Porter Jr. appeared in 30 games for the Bucks, averaging 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in that time on 41% shooting from beyond the arc, and with the stars around him, if they can get that type of production in 2025–26, they'll be very happy. That production came in just 20 minutes a night, and if his role expands to 30–32 minutes a night, this is a team that should be a force in the Eastern Conference, especially if they can stay healthy.
