Steve Nash Suggests Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Is Entering Michael Jordan Territory

Over the past two years, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has separated himself from the rest of the point guards in the NBA, becoming one of the most dominant players in the league. That culminated in an MVP award in 2024–25 to go along with an NBA Championship, and with the team off to a 24–1 start this season, it appears as though he's just going to keep getting better.

This year, SGA is averaging 33 points, five rebounds, and six assists per game, and while Nikola Jokic is also dominating, many believe that the Oklahoma City Thunder star is on the way to back-to-back MVPs. Not only that, but he's stepping into the conversation to be among all-time greats in the league, something that Steve Nash recently pointed out.

During coverage of the league on Prime, fellow MVP and fellow Canadian Nash took a look at the numbers, pointing out that at this rate, SGA is entering Michael Jordan territory.

"Offensively, this guy is entering the heir of Michael Jordan statistically, look at these numbers."

Culturally and as an overall impact on the NBA, it's unlikely that anyone will ever come close to Jordan, but purely based on numbers, it's hard to deny this one, as SGA has been historically dominant over the last 18 months.

Only time will tell if he can keep this up, and if he does, he could likely force his way into the top 10 in league history, but as of right now, he's still got years of dominance to go before entering that conversation.
