Should the Memphis Grizzlies Consider Trading Ja Morant?

The Ja Morant trade rumors have already started picking up, as reports of friction between Morant and the Grizzlies' coaching staff have come out. Morant was suspended one game for comments he made about the team’s coaches, and that has started a ton of chatter.

Former NBA star Boogie Cousins gave his two cents on what the Grizzlies should do regarding Ja Morant.

"It's time to move on. This ship has sailed. The Grizzlies have made their decision on who they're siding with when they suspended Ja. ... Militant coaching combined with modern basketball is a recipe for disaster.”

Boogie may be right on this one. If the Grizzlies no longer have Morant’s commitment to their coaches and organization, it may be time to move on. They likely could still grab some good value for Morant on the trade market. They need to consider that option.

Morant has misbehaved, been unreliable due to injuries, and just hasn’t been good enough to take the Grizzlies past the second round of the playoffs. It is probably time to cut ties.

The Grizzlies have an otherwise young and interesting team, and could probably get a nice return if they put Ja on the trade market. They already got extra draft picks from the Desmond Bane trade and could continue that rebuilding strategy.

That would also mean that the Grizzlies would probably put Jaren Jackson Jr. up for sale as well. Of course, this may seem extreme, but if you’re going to start rebuilding, you might as well lean all the way in.

The Grizzlies have a lot to consider if they are going to cut ties with their franchise superstar.

Time will tell if they can get things back on the right track or if a slew of Grizzlies trades are on the horizon.
