New Orleans Pelicans Star Officially Set To Make Season Debut

The New Orleans Pelicans came into 2025/26 with some type of hope, but unfortunately, that has all but dissipated, with the team currently 15th in the Western Conference with a 16-42 record. That means the team are headed for yet another failed season, and with their first-round pick owed to the Atlanta Hawks, there appears to be no help on the immediate horizon for this organization.

However, they are going to get one boost on Tuesday, with veteran guard Dejounte Murray officially set to return after tearing his achilles in January of 2025, with the veteran guard seeing his first action in 13 months when they take on the Golden State Warriors.

The last time we saw Murray on the court was in 2024/25 when he appeared in 31 games for the Pelicans, averaging 18 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists per game through 33 minutes of game time. The team now looks completely different however with the arrival of Derik Queen and Jeremiah Fears, with several big names departing the struggling organization as well.

While they've no doubt been very poor this season, with the return of Murray and a starting lineup that includes Queen, Zion Williamson, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy, this is a team with some potential for the future. Ultimately though, we won't know what type of level Murray can play at until he's back on the court for a few weeks, but with the team struggling and no first-round pick in 2026, he's a welcome sight for Pelicans fans.
