NBA Veteran Departs the League; Signs New Deal Overseas
Oct 23, 2025
This offseason, we saw many players with genuine NBA experience head overseas, a route that has brought success for many players throughout league history. With more and more young talent coming into the league every year, there are very limited spots in the NBA each season, and now, we've seen another veteran depart North America.
After being acquired by the Charlotte Hornets and then subsequently being waived in a surprise move this offseason, Spencer Dinwiddie has announced his future in the NBA.
According to EuroHoopsNet, Dinwiddie is heading overseas, signing a deal with Bayern Munich to continue his basketball career following little interest in the NBA as a free agent this offseason. Last season with the Dallas Mavericks, Dinwiddie averaged a solid 11 points a night in 27 minutes per night, although the 32-year-old veteran shot just 41% from the field in 70 games played.

With plenty of gas left in the tank, Dinwiddie is going to try to use this opportunity with Bayern Munich to show that he can still be a contributor, likely off the bench in the NBA, looking to follow the path of others who have left the league and returned. On paper, Dinwiddie's game still translates to the NBA, but with only so many roles for scoring pieces off the bench, there simply wasn't interest, and now, he'll hope to prove that he can still be a high-quality contributor for the rest of his career.
