NBA Insider Brian Windhorst Clarifies Giannis Trade Rumors

Will Giannis Antetokounmpo be traded this season? Ever since Shams Charania revealed that the New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks spoke over the summer about a possible Giannis trade, everyone is wondering whether the Greek Freak is going to request out of Milwaukee soon.

From everything Giannis is saying, he is happy to be a Buck and hasn't made a formal request to be traded. That being said, the tone of his comments all have a very “for now” type of tone to them. At this point, people expect this could be Giannis's last season in Milwaukee.

NBA Insider Brian Windhorst recently discussed the Giannis trade rumors and the likelihood of a midseason deal.

"When that report came out...some teams checked in with the Bucks...and the answer has been a resounding no from what I'm told. So everybody is locked in on this year. But there's no way that this Giannis thing is not gonna come back to the surface."

If the Bucks get any indication that Giannis doesn’t plan to re-sign in Milwaukee, it would be in their best interest to trade him while he is at his youngest and has the most years left on his contract.

Right now, it doesn’t sound like the Bucks are going to even field offers.

When they eventually do, expect a ton of teams to throw their assets on the table to be considered as a possible Giannis trade destination. The second the Bucks allow those trade offers to come in, there's a good chance they get an offer they can't refuse.

However, the Bucks won’t trade their franchise superstar without his permission. So expect a Giannis trade request to happen before those phone lines really open up.
