Myles Turner Opens Up On His Exit From the Pacers Ahead Of His Return to Indiana

Myles Turner shockingly left the Indiana Pacers after 10 seasons with the team in free agency, opting to team up with Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks instead. This came as a shock to everyone around the NBA, but especially the Pacers fans, who had experienced Turner rumours for a decade, with the stretch five staying loyal to his team every step of the way.

Now, the veteran returns to Indiana for the first time as a visiting player on Monday, and even after making recent comments on his departure, he's addressing the situation again. This time, Turner has opened up on the betrayal he felt from the Pacers front office, revealing he believes they gave up despite being so close to an NBA title last season.

"Ownership made a decision and I kind of had no choice but to roll with it... The toughest part is we were just so close to accomplishing the ultimate goal. It just feels like they gave up."

Clearly, the team were just minutes away from an NBA Championship in 2025, but with the injury to Tyrese Haliburton, they clearly wanted to be patient and pivot, and unfortunately for Turner, that meant letting him walk in free agency.

We likely won't know whether or not this was the best move for the Pacers until Haliburton returns and the team put their best squad around him, but for now, it's very easy to see why Turner indeed feels the way that he does.
