Mounting Pressure In New Orleans Likely To Cost Willie Green His Job

The New Orleans Pelicans had hope coming into the new season, but with a 2–9 record through their first 11 games played, this team is struggling much worse than anyone could have expected. On top of that, the organization gave away its 2026 first-round draft pick, making its struggles even worse, and clearly, tensions are mounting within the organization.

So much so that Head Coach Willie Green is reportedly just a game or two away from being fired as the Pelicans' struggles continue.

According to reports from ClutchPoints, tensions within the front office are building, with one person in the organization wanting to “crash out” the longer Willie Green remains the Head Coach.

“Those bounces did not favor the Big Easy, and the internal mood is bleak. Multiple representatives and staffers have described how the overall internal ‘vibes are bad’ and how Green sticking around makes one ‘want to crash out’”

Clearly, the vision in New Orleans isn't being seen through the way that the front office expected, with the Head Coach seemingly set to get the blame for the poor roster construction and decisions that they've made in recent years.

Ultimately, it appears to be a matter of when, not if, Green is fired as the Pelicans have struggled to a 2–9 record this season, but even if he is moved on, the organization is in shambles as they look to turn this roster into a contending team moving forward.
