Milwaukee Bucks Lock In Sharp Shooter On A Long-Term Extension

The Milwaukee Bucks have had a very busy offseason thus far, with their biggest moves being to release Damian Lillard and use the spare salary cap space to bring in stretch five Myles Turner to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the rest of the lineup has major question marks, this is a team with great depth, and given the injuries in the Eastern Conference, they're optimistic about their chances in 2025–26.

One of the pieces that has emerged in the lineup in recent years is talented sharpshooter A.J. Green, who put together a career year in 2024–25. In 73 games played, Green averaged 7.4 points on 43% shooting from beyond the arc, establishing himself as the perfect floor spacer for this Bucks team.

Now, they've rewarded him with a long-term extension, as Shams Charania reported on Thursday that they've inked him to a four-year, $45 million, fully guaranteed deal.

Back in 2022, the 26-year-old went undrafted, but now he's been rewarded with a long-term deal and likely a major role off the Bucks' bench. With the likes of Cole Anthony and Taurean Prince also coming off the bench, this Bucks team is incredibly deep, and if Green can take another step forward, he may be one of the best role players in the NBA moving forward.

For now, though, Green is comfortable with his role off the bench, and if he can keep shooting at a 40% or better clip from beyond the arc, this deal will end up being a bargain.
