Luka Doncic Chats With Snoop Dogg About The Lakers' Championship Legacy
Nov 26, 2025
Luka Dončić has spent just nine months on the Los Angeles Lakers roster, but the City of Angels has warmly embraced him as one of its own. It was only a matter of time, then, before Dončić crossed paths with a West Coast icon who also happens to be a massive Lakers fan.
That West Coast icon is none other than hip hop royalty Snoop Dogg, who was dropping chart-topping albums way before the Slovenian guard was born. Snoop and the Don come from different worlds, but their common love for hoops was front and center in their recent chat on Access Hollywood.
The basketball junkie that he is, Uncle Snoop asked Dončić an insightful question: “What has been the toughest thing about playing with LeBron James?”
The Lakers star replied, “I wouldn’t say any toughest part.” Liking what he heard, Snoop said, “That’s the answer I was looking for… It should be easy to play with him.”
Snoop, who was wearing a yellow ensemble and a necklace with a mini-Larry O’Brien trophy, then brought up the name of a beloved Lakers legend. “It’s amazing to know that you had a relationship with Kobe Bryant. And now, you’re playing with LeBron James,” the “Gin and Juice” rapper said. “Does any of that go through your head?”
Dončić responded, “For sure. Kobe brought so many championships here. LeBron brought a championship here, so I want to be the next one to do it.”
Under the bright lights of Tinseltown, generational athletes like Dončić are held to no less than championship standards. When he arrived in L.A. via the blockbuster trade this past February, Laker Nation lit up with the possibility of a Dončić–LBJ tandem taking the team on deep playoff runs.

In their first postseason trip together, Dončić and James came up short against a taller Minnesota Timberwolves squad. Still, expectations are sky-high as the Lakers have beefed up their roster with a diverse set of big men for the 2025–26 campaign.
After missing a few weeks due to nerve issues, James has made his season debut, reintroducing the NBA community to his fearsome partnership with the Lakers’ future cornerstone. There’s no telling how many more years Dončić will get to play with James, but one thing’s for sure: the Dogg Father will be watching them very, very closely.
