New York Knicks Reunite With Landry Shamet On A One-Year Deal

For weeks now, there's been plenty of speculation over the New York Knicks roster construction, with the team linked to several veterans to fill the final holes on their roster. One of the main candidates for the role was former Knick Landry Shamet, who played with the team in 2024/25 and impressed many in the NBA Playoffs when the Knicks reached the Eastern Conference Finals.

Now, on Thursday, the team made the reunion official, inking Shamet to a one-year deal, according to ESPN Insider Shams Charania.

The 28-year old appeared in 50 games for the Knicks last season, averaging a solid 6 points a night on 40% shooting in 15 minutes per game, making the reunion a no-brainer under Mike Brown. However, he's unlikely to play a major role this season, as he's likely the No. 11 guy in this Knicks rotation that now looks like this:

PG: Jalen Brunson

SG: Mikal Bridges

SF: Josh Hart

PF: OG Anunoby

C: Karl-Anthony Towns

Bench:

• Malcolm Brogdon

• Jordan Clarkson

• Miles McBride

• Guerschon Yabusele

• Mitchell Robinson

• Landry Shamet

In Shamet, the Knicks get a sharp-shooter that's ready to step up and give valuable minutes whenever the team needs, as shown by his performances in the post-season that got him standing ovations from the MSG crowd. It's unclear just how much he'll play in 2025/26, but clearly Shamet sees something special in this Knicks team, and with injuries in the East opening the door, this may be their year to return to the NBA Finals.
