Jimmy Butler Discusses the Responsibility of Being a Veteran Leader
Oct 30, 2025
The Golden State Warriors roster is an interesting mix. They have some of the oldest players in the league in Al Horford, Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green, while also having a ton of young talent that they’ve been developing through the draft.
Right now, the Warriors need both their veterans and young guns to create the perfect blend of experience and wisdom with athleticism and endurance. Five games into the season, it seems to be working quite well. They are 4–1 to start the season, and both the veterans and young players look as good as ever.

After one of the Warriors' most recent wins, Jimmy Butler spoke about what it means to be a veteran for these young Warriors.
"Us older guys are on our way out of the league, these new young guys, they've got potential to be great for a very long time, and I think it's just our job to be really good vets to them like we've had in the past, set them up for success. Give them all the confidence in the world, knowing some of these key role players are going to be the reason that we win a championship."
Butler is right. For the Warriors to win a championship, it can’t just be the veterans carrying all the load. Players like Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Quentin Post, and Moses Moody are all going to be key factors in whether the Warriors make a deep playoff run or fall short of their championship hopes.
So far, it’s looking like the veterans are leading the right way and the young guys are soaking it all in. The Warriors hope this continues throughout their long and successful season.
