Jaylen Brown Stresses The Need For Patience After The Celtics Rough Start
Oct 28, 2025
The Boston Celtics have been one of the best teams in the NBA in recent years, but after injuries and major moves over the past six months, they've taken a major step back. The biggest loss for this team has been Jayson Tatum, but with Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Al Horford all departing in different ways, this team simply isn't what they were between 2023 and 2025.
Now, their season has started as expected, with the team going 0-3 before picking up their first win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. Before that game, Jaylen Brown addressed the Celtics' struggles, stressing the need for patience, as these changes are something that simply can't be fixed in a game or two.
"It's going to take some time. We lost four All-Stars from last season between Al, Jrue, Kristaps, and JT being out. And Luke's an All-Star to me. Luke's an All-Star in all of our hearts. We didn't lose one guy; we lost five. To replace those guys, it doesn't happen overnight."
Some improvements were shown on Monday night when 25 points from Anfernee Simons represented one of seven players in double digits, with the team finally flexing its muscles on both ends of the floor. Unfortunately, these performances may be few and far between early in the 2025–26 season, but if Brown is to be believed, this team has a shot at making a postseason push this season, even with all of the injuries and changes they've gone through.
